Anatomy of the Knee
Cushioned by a well-designed system of cartilage, ligaments, and muscles, the knee is one of the most complex joints in the body. The strength of the muscles and ligaments surrounding the knee determine the joint’s stability, while the tendons connecting the leg muscles to the bones allow movement.
Importance of the Knee
Knees function as major load-bearing joints in your day-to-day activities. Athletics, work, and even daily chores around the home can put stress on your knees. A sudden lateral or aggressive movement the wrong way or the compounding effect of long-term wear can lead to failure or injury in one or more of the structures in your knee.
Disease or injury disrupting the normal functions of the knee can cause pain, muscle weakness, and limited activity. Allow a TCO specialist to help diagnose your condition and customize a plan to treat it.
