Cathryn "CJ" Vadala, MD Orthopaedic Hand & Elbow Surgeon

Dr. Cathryn “CJ” Vadala’s focus is on hand and elbow surgery. As a board-certified surgeon, she takes people with hand and elbow issues and treats their condition to provide relief.

Dr. Vadala became an orthopedic surgeon because she likes putting things back together. She chose the hand, specifically, because it is very intricate and delicate and must work in balance to function properly. Patients generally seek her care when there are experiencing issues with their arm that continues to get in the way of their quality of life. Those issues include pain, stiffness, numbness in the fingers, or hand or elbow injuries.

The care she provides is important because we use our hands in so many different ways—to greet each other, function at work, and perform while at play, to name just a few. Surgery of the hand is a huge field with many different options that can be applied to help relieve patients from their pain. That’s why Dr. Vadala provides each patient with a treatment plan customized to their particular situation.

For Dr. Vadala, the most rewarding part of orthopaedics is taking someone who comes in with hand or elbow issues that are preventing them from doing the things they enjoy, and finding the right treatment—surgical or non-surgical—to help get them back to doing the activities they love without difficulties.

Dr. Vadala moved to the Tri-Cities from Wisconsin and really enjoys the small-town feel. She’s a people person who treats all her patients as though they were her family. Dr. Vadala enjoys cooking, traveling, and art, and even has an impressive art collection of her own. Be sure to ask her about it when you see her!
