Full Job Description
Our busy Orthopedic Clinic is looking for a Bilingual Patient Services Representative/Switchboard Operator. The ideal candidate will have prior customer service and phone experience, and be able to work in a fast paced environment under pressure. This position is also responsible for answering all incoming calls and transferring where needed, while also being able to answer general company-related questions making sure that patients’ needs are met. This position often serves as a first point of contact for customers.
The Bilingual Patient Services Representative/Switchboard Operator is a full-time, 40 hour a week position with full benefits offered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for doctors’ lines, and responding to non-urgent calls
- Answer incoming phone calls and route them to appropriate person, department, or voicemail
- Communicate effectively with local labs and hospitals
- Responsible for patient requests via TCO’s website
- Communicating with staff for scheduling procedures and gathering consents
- Meet with patients who have been identified for surgery to provide an overview of the process. This meeting would include discussing dates for surgery, scheduling pre-op appointment and completing any necessary paperwork. Answers any surgery scheduling questions by telephone.
- Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and financial obligations for the appropriate procedure/surgery, as applicable.
- Monitor provider surgery schedule to ensure accuracy for surgery length and timeliness, utilization as well as any assists needed.
- Meet with patients who have been identified for surgery to provide an overview of the process. This meeting would include discussing dates for surgery, scheduling pre-op appointment and completing any necessary paperwork.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/ Background:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One (1) year phone reception/front desk experience, medical setting preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Bilingual – Spanish/English (Required)
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of organization services
- Skilled in basic computer functions
- Able to work in a fast paced environment
- Skilled in verbal and written communication
- Ability to articulate answers to patient questions clearly
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: From $16.50 per hour (DOQ)
