Full Job Description

Our busy Orthopedic Clinic is looking for a Bilingual Patient Services Representative/Switchboard Operator. The ideal candidate will have prior customer service and phone experience, and be able to work in a fast paced environment under pressure. This position is also responsible for answering all incoming calls and transferring where needed, while also being able to answer general company-related questions making sure that patients’ needs are met. This position often serves as a first point of contact for customers.

The Bilingual Patient Services Representative/Switchboard Operator is a full-time, 40 hour a week position with full benefits offered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for doctors’ lines, and responding to non-urgent calls
  • Answer incoming phone calls and route them to appropriate person, department, or voicemail
  • Communicate effectively with local labs and hospitals
  • Responsible for patient requests via TCO’s website
  • Communicating with staff for scheduling procedures and gathering consents
  • Meet with patients who have been identified for surgery to provide an overview of the process. This meeting would include discussing dates for surgery, scheduling pre-op appointment and completing any necessary paperwork. Answers any surgery scheduling questions by telephone.
  • Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and financial obligations for the appropriate procedure/surgery, as applicable.
  • Monitor provider surgery schedule to ensure accuracy for surgery length and timeliness, utilization as well as any assists needed.
  • Meet with patients who have been identified for surgery to provide an overview of the process. This meeting would include discussing dates for surgery, scheduling pre-op appointment and completing any necessary paperwork.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/ Background:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year phone reception/front desk experience, medical setting preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Bilingual – Spanish/English (Required)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of organization services
  • Skilled in basic computer functions
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Skilled in verbal and written communication
  • Ability to articulate answers to patient questions clearly

Job Type: Full-Time

Pay: From $16.50 per hour (DOQ)

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift 8:00AM-5:00PM
  • Monday to Friday

Education:
